The Story of Carol's Mission in Honduras

A year ago a missionary to Honduras from Fishers of Men Missions, Inc. read an article about Carol Crow from Out of Eden Soaps in Southern Living magazine. An idea was sparked…"wouldn’t it be great to teach the ladies of Honduras how to make soap?"

A trip was planned to Wilmington NC, to meet Carol and see if she would be willing to teach a few team members her trade. This new trade would in turn be taught to ladies in the remotest villages of Honduras. Not only would this be a product that the ladies could use on a daily basis but also a product that could help them to generate income for their families. To make a very long story short, the Holy Spirit took over. Not only did Carol teach the team members to make soap before long she too was a member of the team!

Anyone who has ever been on a mission trip to a Third World Country and witnessed the overwhelming poverty knows how it generates a need to reach out and help. Carol was not immune to this feeling. Mighty God was pulling on her heart. One night while lying on her bunk, Carol felt the Lord speak to her. "Help my people," He said. All Carol could do was wonder how? What did she have to offer?

Then she realized, the very product that had brought her to Honduras would be the way she would help. Carol would create a line of soaps dedicated to the humble people of Honduras. She would sell these products in her store and make them available to order on line. Carol would donate the profit from these sales to Fishers of Men to help support their on going missions to Honduras.

Fishers of Men and Honduras Outreach

These two little children remind Carol that God loves everyone. These two little children remind Carol that God loves everyone.

Fishers of Men began in 2003 when God touched the hearts of a few faithful Christians from eastern North Carolina as they went on their first mission trip to Honduras. The sights, the sounds, and the smells all made for a unique and life changing experience. Beginning with just a few people, God began to grant a vision, a dream, for a lasting partnership that would help minister to the physical and spiritual needs of God's children in one of the poorest nations on earth.

As God began to place this vision and burden for ministry on the hearts of more believers, the Fishers of Men organization started. As an inter-denominational missions ministry, Fishers of Men has become a vessel for helping mission minded churches and Christians of diverse backgrounds fulfill God's Great Commission. The seeds that were planted five or more years ago are bearing tremendous rewards for God's Kingdom. Yet, there are more "fish in the sea" and many, many ways to make a difference in the lives of the Honduran people.
