Loyal Customers

Nothing touches my heart anymore than when customers send me emails, letters, and testimonies! Especially when it is from a child! I have artwork in my office from children that is so precious. I will post one of them down below. What is really touching is they come from all over the United States!

About a month ago I had 3 girls knocking on the door (we were closed) I came to the door and they had a Ohio gift basket everything in it was from, or made in Ohio! These girls make the soap shop part of their vacation every time they come to Wilmington. I was so touched I did not know what to say.

I try to always let my customers know how much I appreciate them, and if it were not for them I would not be here. But when they let you know how much they appreciate you it is very touching. Below is a note that was attached to a order from the website.

Dear Out Of Eden,I don’t know if you’ll remember us,my daughter and I use to shop with you when you were downtown.I love your Pine Tar,it’s amazing for Rosacea! We have since moved to Ca. I miss your soap(and the amazing smell of your store) so much. I’m so homesick!

Lorna California

Thank you for all the emails, letters, and the sweetest artwork. You really keep me going when things get crazy!

I am blessed to have loyal customers! You make the long hours, and the hard work of being self employed all worth while.

That’s what it is all about!

God Bless,

Carol and Eilene

AKA : The Kooky Soap Sisters

Can you smell that smell

I was at the Sonic this past weekend with Siser. Placed my order. The young man on skates rolls out with my order,I rolled my window down and he says is that Nag Champa or Patchouli? Siser and I start laughing. She had just said when I picked her up you smell like patchouli.(I had just showered) Then she said I do not even like patchouli and you smell good. In fact she said Rosebud her 9 year old daughter wants me to bring some of the patchouli soap home, because of all the attention I got using it. Plus my 9 year old bathes with it and EVERYONE at their school WCA always comes up just to smell her. True Story!

What makes our Patchouli smell so good and so much better?

1. we grow our on patchouli

What is Patchouli? A lot of people do not know it is a plant/Herb.

2.I infuse our patchouli cuttings in oil, weeks before I use it to make soap. Kind of like a steeped tea

3. Ground patchouli powder is then put into the batch of soap.

4.I use all natural oils Coconut,Almond,Shea Butter, olive oil

5.12-20 ounces of patchouli essential oil is poured into the batch!

6.You, your bathroom, your baby, and your house are going to smell great.

7.Our patchouli smells heavenly. Not HEAVY people WILL ask you what scent are you wearing. NOT whose got on PATCHOULI !

Caution! Once you try it, you WILL be hooked. I have people come and volunteer their time at the soap shop just to keep smelling like our VERY popular Patchouli.

Peace, Love, and Patchouli

Come From

Customers ask me weekly, How did you get the name Out Of Eden?

Well, when I found out I actually had a real business, I thought, I want a strong name and a biblical name.

I have always loved Meryl Streep. She played such a strong women in Out of Africa . That’s where Out Of came from.

Of course Eden came from the Garden of Eden in the Bible. I love to garden, and I love everything pure and clean and natural.

I put them together and there it is Out Of Eden Soaps.

Going on 12 years of handcrafting the purest, soaps, lotions, and organic body products, I can make.

God Bless

Carol

Heated Kitchen

Today Candy and I made 8 huge loaves of cold process soap. That’s like making 8 homemade 7 layer chocolate cakes from scratch!

We made 2 loaves of Patchouli

3 loaves of Dead Sea Mud

2 loaves of Organic olive oil

1 loaf of French Rose Clay

That is almost a record for Out Of Eden Soaps. One day on a really good Latte I made 10 loaves!

The kicker was until about 4 in the afternoon we had no AC. I was determine to get it done. I figure if people can work outside on roofs in 100 degree weather, I can work inside with fans!

Needless to say it was a productive day!

I have been working hard on developing and testing organic and vegan products. The detergents in over the counter soaps are extremely drying and so many people are allergic to the chemicals. Not counting the petroleum that is added in most soaps, lotions and shampoos!

Our organic and soon to be launched vegan, and Organic kids soaps line have basic ingredients that you can pronounce, and recognize. Not to mention that are healthy for our planet.

Here’s a sneak peek of a photo shoot set up we did, to launch the new products.

Stay tuned for more Organic items, and Organic kids/Vegan line.

She sells Sea Shells

For 11 years straight Wrightsville breeze has been our number one selling soap. The name is after Wrightsville Beach NC. Which is about 5 miles max from my soap kitchen. We are so close our address is 3342 Wrightsville Ave.

The soap is a very pretty color of sea foam green with either a sand dollar or another beautiful shell placed on top of the bow.The scent is very fresh and oceany when ever I use it people always ask “what fragrance are you wearing.

If you are looking for a soap for a gift this is your soap. Father’s day is Sunday make Dad and his bathroom smell fresh!

Men and women LOVE this soap.We sell so much we make it in lotion bars, salts, scrubs, and even the fragrance by itself.

So if you can not make it to the beach this year let us send it home to you!

Can or Fresh?

The other day I opened up a can of canned peaches. Yuck! They did not even taste like peaches! They just tasted like something sweet and stale. Kinda like when you leave a watermelon in the fridge, and you do not cover it. You come back the next day to slice off a little bit and it taste funky.

Well it is sorta the same with our soaps. I challenge you to use a grocery store bought soap, then try our soap. If you do not LOVE our soap I will send your money back! That pretty much wraps it up.

Like the peaches, you can have canned peaches made months ago with no taste or enjoyment.Or you can buy fresh peaches, and taste, smell, and see the difference.

Our soaps are made fresh daily, with fresh herbs I grow. We use organic oils,or natural oils depending on what I am making. We use essential oils.

Our soaps are made in small batches so I can physically handle all the ingredients.

I make sure they are the best on the market or they go home with me for my family to use.

Homemade fresh wins every time!

Here is a picture of our peppermint pumice foot soap. Made fresh and cut today!

What we learn from Children

Today we had a soap making birthday party for a little girl turning 4. She had 6 friends come, some drove a hour to the party because they had heard about the soap shop, but had never come to shop, or visit.

I wish I could post pictures,but I can’t. I have to protect their identity.

Ages ranged from 2-6 years old, boys and girls. The children had more fun in the soap kitchen then they did eating cake!

They kept coming back to the kitchen with icing all over their sweet little faces asking in their munchkin voices is the soap ready.

Can we make another soap.

They got so excited about being able to mix,add fragrance glitter, and pour their own soaps. Yes it went everywhere, but to see their faces, watching their friends pour their own soap.In their own mold, with their own designs that they made was awesome.

The littlest things made them so happy. I do not even recognize them anymore the smell, the shapes they made, all the colors. Knowing they were going to bathe with the soap they made tonight.

They told Siser and I, you must love your job.

Happy Birthday Kennedy!

Love Ms.Carol and Ms.Eilene

So today is Earth Day, and we decided we would write about LOVE and taking special care of those in your life that may need help.Help that is done out of the pure goodness in your heart.Help that is done without expecting anything back in return. Our earth needs lots of help and love.

In siser Carol’s family, they recycle their trash, have a stinky compost pile, they drive 2 energy efficient cars, use low pressure shower heads, and also buy 12 year light bulbs.

Siser Eilene recycles her families trash, makes pillows and other household items from old clothes, shops too much at any kind of stinky thrift store, and air dries the family clothes.

We teach our children not to litter and to pick up trash if you see it, EVEN if its not yours. Also to take faster showers, turn off lights, and not to waste anything.

Now to get the understanding of why we mention the Mormons.Siser and I have met the sweetest young men this year from the Mormon Faith,or The Church of LDS.If you have ever had the privilege of meeting an Elder from the LDS then you know how kind and giving they are. These young men have touched our lives in ways that we didn't see coming. They have checked on us every week, just to say hello and to see if we need anything. This kind gesture is what their mission is about, along with teaching the word of Jesus Christ. At first Siser and I didn't quite know how to accept their help without giving them something back.We had never been treated that way without strings attached. They would do anything you asked.

Before we met the Elders,we viewed the Mormons in a different way.Not in a bad way,we just thought they believed differently then us.Which they do.However, they believe in the resurrection of the cross, and we accept them as brothers in Christ.

So when Siser, and I were thinking about what to blog about.I thought about Earth Day,and Siser thought about the Mormons!

They are both similar in the same ways such as, they give such happiness and in return expect so little. All in the name of love.Loving the Earth, and loving your brother.
