Coming up this Saturday we are going to host a children's Valentine soap making party, at the Wilmington Children's Museum.Located at 116 Orange St.Please come and join us.It is going to be a 1950s/Valentines Day theme.
Of course we need a costume,Siser wouldn't have it any other way.She has her costume already!I on the other hand do not.
Siser is dressing up as Sandra Dee,I thought I would dress up as a mad Scientist (kinda like back to the future).
So off we go to the Goodwill for a Lab Coat.We are greeted with valet parking(like we are at the Ritz),but we are skeptical of the guy because he only had about 2 teeth, and smelled strong of alcohol. He did however have a cool vintage outfit on.A 1980’s members only jacket, some plaid golf pants, and a cashmere Kangaroo hat.
Cruising the parking lot for a parking place.Siser and I realize this is the place to be.We didn't see this many people at the mall during Christmas! While I am making sure I locked the doors twice',Siser runs on in.When I get inside,a mixture of
Wind song perfume, mothballs, and dirty head fill the air,but yet it is fun. It’s the trill of the unknown, and exciting to see what you might find.
We decided to split up to check the areas out.We were both trying to find my white lab coat. Instead,I found a pleather chair that had a really cute design, but when I sat in it I slid out, like someone had eaten a bucket of KFC and wiped their fingers on it afterwards. But,on the linen bin I spied with my little eye a cool red and white handmade quilt.I ran to backhand somebody before they tried to get my treasure, but lucky for me know one saw it!It was mine and I was happy!Siser, found a cool vintage sheath dress complete with neck cheese and armpit stains.Have no fear, Oxy Clean is here(or will be)and we were both happy, like everyone else in there.
Thrifts stores seem to be the new place to shop these days. You can find anyone from the homeless, the yacht club, some crazies, and a few artsy fartsy thrown in for good measure. It’s like the hip place to be,and be seen.Kind of like a new or hip coffee house.Plus your recycling, which makes it earth friendly, and easy on the pocket book.
Even through Siser and I did not find what we needed this time.We did leave with some sweet treasures that we love, and they hardly cost us a thing! We will continue to search tomorrow at our other local thrift stores.Hopefully, somewhere in our hunt a nice doctor has been kind enough to donate his intern lab coat;without neck cheese and armpit stains.
