Fall is beginning we are noticing cooler days and nights. Colors in the trees are starting to look different.Which inspires us to design our Fall soaps those colors.
One day last week while experimenting in the kitchen Siser came up with some really pretty colors, and some not so pretty. Rich reds, purples, browns, and plums. The combination of all these colors mixed together in a Pyrex bowl reminded us fondly of some colorful family members. One in particular was our Uncle Dick.He was our Grandmothers brother. He differently had some of the “crazy genes” that we both inherited. For starters in his late 30s he was hit by a train. He lost half of his ear',which damaged his hearing. So he ALWAYS yelled. He chewed Red Man tobacco, and always had it dribbled down the cracks of his chin. In church,he was notorious for opening up a piece of hard candy wrapped in cellophane for 10 minutes; while in the middle of prayer, baptismal, or a funeral. He would also yell “what time is it?” or “I hate this hymn”.On a more positive note, he had a beautiful garden, and kept his 65 Chevy truck in immaculate condition. He loved his wife Florene unconditionally and always trusted that she knew best.Aunt Florene was Uncle Dick’s beautician.
She would cut,and color his hair. She would buy whatever hair color that was on sale that month, use it on Uncle Dick’s hair and save the leftovers for the next time. This ended up making Uncle Dick’s hair color a shade that mother nature did not produce.Mixtures of reds, browns, and blondes. Therefore Uncle Dick’s head would always be Maroon,or plum if you will.So whenever Siser and I see a pretty maroon or plum color we always smile, and remember all the good memories of our beloved, and crazy Uncle Dick. This Falls 2009 collection of soaps is dedicated to the late Blair Keener.AKA Uncle Dick.
