With Summer coming to a end,and a new season beginning,Siser and I have been remembering Summers past.It would begin like this.Family vacations would start off driving in the night, in our blown out station wagon.(there was 6 of us)Mom and Dad always gave Siser Eilene a little cold medicine so she wouldn't drive us all insane.Momma would always feed us a hearty homemade supper, and pack lots of snacks. There was never any stopping at Mc Donald's to eat.If you got hungry ,Mama would pass you an old apple that looked like it had been thrown against the wall about 10 times. You wouldn’t be...

Things we love that are old and crusty.
Day old pizza for breakfast.
Weathered Shabby Chic Furniture
Our favorite purse
Old family photos
Blown out soap making crocs. Seasoned croutons on a juicy salad.
Things we don’t love that are old and crusty:
Your Great Great Grand Maws cooking pan
Gunk stuck up under a table at the barbeque restaurant
Ear cheese with hairs sprouting out
Sandman's in the eyes, and a bugger in the barrel
and last, but not least the worst thing of all…
is some old crusty, nasty, grey, cracked hammer time feet.

But for heaven sakes please clean um,sand um ,and grease them down! Nobody wants to see your old crusty feet, while standing behind you in line at the grocery store.Causing them to turn around and put their French...

Rich reds, purples, browns, and plums. The combination of all these colors mixed together in a Pyrex bowl reminded us fondly of some colorful family members. One in particular was our Uncle Dick.He was our Grandmothers brother. He differently had some of the “crazy genes” that we both inherited. For starters in his late 30s he was hit by a train. He lost half of his ear',which damaged his hearing. So he ALWAYS yelled. He chewed Red Man tobacco, and always had it dribbled down the cracks of his chin. In church,he was notorious for opening up a piece of hard candy wrapped in cellophane for 10 minutes; while in the middle of prayer, baptismal, or a funeral. He would also yell “what time is it?” or “I hate this hymn”.On a more positive...

Yesterday started off with a heavy rain. The sky was gloomy. All together now Monday,Monday. We figured to expect the same ole same ole.But to our surprise the clouds broke and the sun started shining;folks came in excited to be here, and happily started buying. We were ecstatic as could be, because they loved our Bay Rum you see. After the rush was over, and all the Bay Rum soap was gone. On the table there was nothing left but crumbs. So off to the liquor store with a hand full of cash, Siser bought more rum, and returned in a flash!Back to the kitchen to make another fresh batch, with spicy scents and vegan oils this soap is made from scratch. It’s not...
